Adai


Ingredients:
  • Toor Dal - 1/2 cup
  • Chana Dal - 1/2 cup
  • Urad Dal - 1/4 cup
  • Rice - 1 cup
  • Red Chilies - 7
  • Cumin - 1 tsp
  • Asafoetida -1/4 tsp
  • Grated coconut - 1 tbsp
  • Red Pearl Onions(small) - 15
  • Plantain flowers (optional)
  • Drumstick leaves (optional)
  • Curry Leaves
  • Cilantro
  • Ginger- finely chopped-1/4 inch (optional)
  • Oil - for making dosa
  • salt

Preparation:

  • Soak Rice,Toor Dal, Chana Dal and urad Dal for 2 hours.
  • Add 1/2 tsp salt,cumin seeds , red chillies, asafoetida ,curry leaves , cilantro and grind it coarsely.
  • Add grated coconut,ginger , finely chopped onions, chopped drumstick leaves or chopped plantain flower to the flour.
  • Heat the tawa and pour little batter and spread it like dosa and pour little oil around it and once cooked on one side, turn it upside down.
  • Once done,serve it hot with avial or chutney and little butter on the top.
  • You could also use jaggery along with the chutney.
